This week's Soap Opera Digest features an interview with Patrick Muldoon about his exit. In the interview, he discusses the circumstances that take Carrie and Austin away from Salem. They leave on July 24th, and Carrie makes the decision that they should leave Salem for Switzerland so that she can avoid her feelings for Rafe. Austin supports her in this decision, because he feels it will help them rebuild their marriage.

Muldoon's final scenes are with Christie Clark and with Lauren Koslow. He says Kate gets the chance to tell Austin how much she loves him.

Pick up the latest Digest to see what else Muldoon has to say about his exit!

They should have just brought Carrie back by herself in the first place. But I'm happy we got to see what Muldoon would be like in the role of Austin again. He's one person I NEVER expect to see again on DAYS. If Austin comes back for the end of DAYS I believe it will be Austin Peck. I wish they would have kept Carrie, but this ending sounds like total shit and I won't be awaiting her return because it will just be her coming back to be with Rafe. Something I don't want to see. Carrie has so much potential and its wasted yet again. Christie Clark doesn't seem to be missing a beat either. Sad.

As for Muldoon he started out bad. Was great in the Austin/Abigail story...and now he's never on but when he is its nothing special. If they made the Austin/Abigail story last longer or have an actual lasting effect on anything I think this return could have been a lot different.

Well I am glad he gets to share some scenes with his mother before he leaves because they have not really shared that many sense he has been back. I might just be being selfish because I am always up for seeing my favorite character Kate.

I just think that he should have a chance to say goodbye to Lucas and Billie too they are his sibilngs after all.

If Kate finds out that Austin is leaving because of Carrie's feelings for Rafe she may just cut a bitch. I mean she did threaten her with a sharp dagger after all. :jedi: .

he wasn't always pathetic, he was just one of the many characters that suffered at the pens of MarDar :shame:

It's not even an exit story. I was going to say it's just as bad as their 2006 "gotta go, bye" marriage, but it's worse, because this time they're not even in love anymore. I feel bad for their fans. What a wasted return.

Sounds like his exit will be as pathetic and uneventful as his presence this last go around.

Agreed! Whatever spark he had the last time he was on the show is totally gone for me now. I was even rooting for Caustin to break-up.

Austin's so stupid, he supports Carrie's running away from cheating again? TomSell couldn't give any other exit than this one? Like Austin getting a job offer and choosing to leave town, Carrie wanting to pick her husband and support him chooses to go with him?

Instead it's all about Carrie's love for Rafe?

Much prefers sweevil, snarky EJ over Father Figure Fucktard Eejiot.

I still wish Austin would have bought Carrie a one way ticket to Switzerland (or nowhere) and sent her ass on her way...and he could have stuck around.

Very predictable exit. A lot of missed opportunities for Carrie and Austin from the moment they came back on the scene.

When Tomlin and co. decided to get rid of Carrie and Austin, the least they could have done is patch them back together more or less by having Carrie wake up from her MarDar-induced trance and realize Austin, her husband and the father of her child, was who she really loved and wanted to be with. They could have had her be disillusioned by Rafe's sordid affiliation with Nicole and realizing that he wasn't the idealized guy she'd thought him to be. It would have taken one or two scenes at most to have Carrie come to her senses before leaving town so that long-term Caustin fans could have something to go on by restoring the pair more or less to the state they were in when they arrived for the re-boot. If TomSell was so bent on dismantling everything MarDar put in place, that would have been the least they could have done.

But TomSell chose not to go that route and allowed MarDar's Cafe creation to win out and screw over the Caustin fans. There is nothing positive to hold onto here. No one can celebrate Carrie's pregnancy, and her character is seriously damaged. Austin looks pathetic and weak (although he has the patience and forbearance of a saint). And, frankly, Rafe isn't looking too good either. It's all a total waste with no redeeming value. TomSell's choices here do not bode well for the the future. Those choices show an appalling lack of caring and sensitivity to history, characterization, and the viewers. Unfortunately, it's only the beginning.

Gone, But Not Forgotten!

Just as I expected, blunt and to the point, end of story. TomSell wanted to wash their hands of MarDar's crap so fast, no more story to tell. I expect the same for Jack. I'd be surprised he has more than a few lines of dialogue.
